Freelancing
If you are at all like me and have a school schedule that is incompatible with any normal job you might know then how difficult it is to keep the cash flowing. So, an enterprising mind like mine decided to see what other options were available. About a year ago, I came across the wonderful world of freelancing. Basically, companies will pay you to do a job that they do not have the in house talent for, or the time to do themselves. This concept works out well for both the company and the freelancer. The company saves money by not having to employ a full-time employee, and the freelancer is able to focus on their skills, accomplish a job, build their portfolio, and of course bag some cash. What kind of skills do you have that you could put to use? I frequently surf some freelance websites and the most in demand services are for web designers (programmers) and writers (blogs, articles, etc). There are also plenty of openings for accountants, data entry workers, photographers, editors, proofreaders, and the list goes on. Check out GetaFreelancer, elance.com, and oDesk for lots of job listings. If you are a college student looking to bag some extra cash just by doing what you are good at freelancing is definitely the thing for you. The freelance jobs you get can also provide some great experience and will definitely look great on your resume. In other news - the 1st MyCollegeDebt.org contest will begin on October 1, 2008, so be looking for that and more! |
