Lets Talk MLM for College Students

…and by business I mean MLM business. MLM “business” programs are highly targeted and spread around by college students as a way to earn $1000’s per month. Sometimes people do make this much, but 9 times out of 10 it will not happen that way. I just wanted to throw out a few pre-cautionary words before you jumped in and regretted it.

Over the summer I had a few different friends on a few different occasions approach me about joining their “independently owned businesses” - and by “businesses” they ment Amway/Quixtar. Now, there quite a few people in the world who have become very successful with Amway/Quixtart - so I am not here to bash them.

While I wanted the “passive” income, I had no desire to pay to join. Therefore, I kept on doing my own thing here blogging, writing, and *gasp* working a real job for some money. Now that I am back in school I still write and blog, but *gasp again* miss the real job and the cash it gives me. So, I once again set out to find a decent source of cash to put towards the pesky college bills.

Enter SFI. SFI is like a barebones Quixtar. The offer a few health and beauty supplements and products, and some MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing) options. They were free to join - so I jumped in to fool around with it for a few days. I must say, I am neither impressed nor unimpressed. It is decent, just your regular MLM and regular marketing ideas. So far, I have managed to grab two others to my downline (both from the Middle East).

Anyway - I am not going to ask you to join under me, because I am not even very dedicated to the program - I am just experimenting a little, and I have decided that MLM is just not something for me. Theoretically, you can make a lot of money, but there are a number of factors to take into account i.e. - the number of distributors in the area, quality of the product, and buy-in price vs. compensation. All in all, 97% of the people that join MLM programs will fail. This isn’t meant to discourage you from joining MLMs, I just wanted to help you think throught a few things before you potentialy threw your money away.
